About Andrew

Andrew is a member of the Tech team at HLK and joined HLK in early 2019 from another large patent attorney firm in Scotland. Andrew has advised a wide variety of clients including start-ups, SMEs, universities and multinational companies on patent matters in the fields of electronics and engineering. Andrew has experience in a range of technologies, including electronics, telecommunications, machine learning, software, optics, photolithography, medical devices, oil & gas technology and mechanical engineering. Andrew particularly enjoys working with his clients to help them achieve their commercial goals.

Andrew joined the patent profession in 2012 after completing a PhD in the field of ultrashort laser pulse shaping and biophotonics. Andrew considers it a privilege to have been able to learn about a range of technologies in his career. Working as a patent attorney has given Andrew a deeper insight into the challenges faced by a range of different industries and helped him gain a significant appreciation for how inventors have contributed to society in ways that can often be taken for granted.
