About Greg

Greg is a Partner in our Energy, Environmental and Engineering team and has been in the profession since gaining a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2012. Before joining HLK in 2016, he worked for a large private practice firm in central London. He has extensive experience of guiding clients through the entirety of a patent’s lifespan: from drafting and prosecution of patent applications to advising on infringement, validity and entitlement issues.

Greg has also handled a number of international assignment programs and clearance exercises, and has attended oral proceedings at the European Patent Office during patent examination, opposition, and appeal. He has extensive experience of guiding clients through the entirety of a patent’s lifespan: from drafting and prosecution of patent applications to advising on infringement, validity and entitlement issues.

Greg is an enthusiastic and sociable attorney who takes pride in getting to know his clients and their businesses on a deep level. This means that he can give no-nonsense advice which complements their strategic and commercial aims and is pitched at the correct level for the recipient’s experience with IP.

He is a member of both the firm’s Designs Group and Diversity and Inclusion Group and is a regular visitor to his clients around Europe and in the United States. In 2019, Greg spent five weeks working within a large firm of US attorneys in Chicago, an experience which helped him become even more familiar with US practice and allows him to provide more globally-relevant advice.

A true all-rounder, Greg’s mechanical engineering background enables him handle cases from a broad range of engineering subject matter. His experience covers aerospace and automotive technology through to personal safety equipment and consumer devices, along with FMCGs, manufacturing equipment and processes, industrial hydraulics, fossil fuel exploration and extraction, fuel cells, and medical devices.

Outside of the IP world, Greg is a keen amateur chef and an enthusiastic, if unexceptional, 5-a-side goalkeeper with a taste for travelling the world.
