We are delighted to share that, as a firm, Haseltine Lake Kempner (HLK) has been recognised in numerous patent rankings in the 2021 IAM Patent 1000, including both the United Kingdom: England and European Patent Office jurisdictions. In the United Kingdom: England rankings, HLK was awarded Silver in Patent Prosecution, Bronze in IP Litigation and five HLK attorneys were individually recognised. Similarly, in the European Patent Office jurisdiction, HLK received a Silver ranking, with two attorneys from HLK also highlighted due to their regular attendance before the EPO.
HLK’s unwavering commitment to continually improve and strong ethos of providing quality and outstanding client service has resulted in the following comments from clients as part of IAM’s research.
“Rarely does a firm put out such high-quality work product so consistently for such good value”
“Haseltine Lake Kempner is creative, responsive and demonstrates the utmost professionalism, legal knowledge and attention to detail. In addition, the practitioners are wizards when working with specifications written for the US”
Alongside the firm’s rankings, six HLK attorneys have been listed in this year’s IAM Patent 1000. Richard Kempner, who boasts over 30 years of experience, was celebrated for his ability to provide “bespoke, highly specialised advice” as a “brilliant and focused litigator”. Simon Rees, Global Head of Client Services and Partner in the Tech team, was listed in Prosecution and recognised for “his mission to build enduring relationships with clients and his wide-ranging technical capabilities spanning telecommunications, electronics and computer architecture.”
From the Chemistry and Life Sciences team, Alex Rogers, Joseph Lenthall and David Hammond all received recognition in Prosecution. Alex Rogers has been praised as “a thorough and persuasive EPO oppositions ace”. Meanwhile Joseph Lenthall was described as “dynamic and driven” and “a familiar face at the EPO” in his work in chemical and pharmaceutical portfolios. “A versatile and client-focused attorney” are the words used to commend David Hammond’s work on innovative medical patents.
James Ward, Partner in HLK’s Munich Office, rounds up IAM’s rankings with a recommendation in Prosecution and Nullity. James is not only a familiar face at the EPO due to his extensive oppositions work, but “his broad physics know-how ensures he can quickly get to grips with everything from 3D printing to sensors for deep-sea fishing gear, injection moulding machines and telephone routing and recording systems”, is appreciated by colleagues and clients alike.
The 2019 merger of Haseltine Lake and Kempner & Partners brought together two of Europe’s leading specialist IP firms, with 180 years of combined history and experience. Haseltine Lake Kempner, as it is today, has continued to build on this extensive expertise and is continually recognised by legal directories for this very reason.
