About Robert

Robert is passionate about technology and enjoys working on a wide range of subject areas. With a General Engineering degree from Cambridge University, Robert is well placed to assist clients with their inventions across a broad range of disciplines. In addition to having a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robert maintains a keen interest in computing and designs, builds and programs computers in his spare time.

Prior to joining HLK, Robert worked for an Engineering consultancy for 4 years. As a consultant Design Engineer Robert worked on projects for aircraft, gas turbines, compressors and their related control systems and software. Through this, Robert gained a wide range of experience and understands first-hand the challenges that inventors face.

Robert is a qualified UK and European Patent Attorney and is a member of our Energy, Environment and Engineering team. In addition to drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the automotive and aerospace sectors, Robert has also drafted patent applications relating to advanced photonics, software and machine learning inventions. Robert also has experience in the medical device sector, in particular implantable knee and hip prostheses and surgical guides and tools. In addition to patent drafting and prosecution, Robert also has experience advising on infringement and validity issues.

Robert enjoys working with a variety of clients including start-ups and universities, as well as larger corporations and regularly represents clients at proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Robert is a keen participant of HLK’s Academy and enjoys passing his knowledge on to the next generation of patent attorneys.
