Reuben combines a keen interest in technology, academic curiosity, and a high attention to detail with a sharp commercial understanding developed through a diverse range of experiences.
He joined HLK in September 2025, following his graduation from Oxford University with a first-class MEng degree in Engineering Science. Throughout his degree, he was awarded multiple scholarships and prizes for academic excellence, including the Gibbs Prize, Maldé Scholarship, Domus Scholarship, and Simpson Prize. During his studies, Reuben developed a deep understanding of the foundations of all forms of Engineering before focusing in his later years on high-tech innovations, including robotics, electronics, communications, and machine learning.
His master’s research focused on the emerging field of multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL). During this work, he developed the first GPU-accelerated MARL simulator of a financial market and, alongside this, trained a novel large language model to generate financial market messages.
Beyond his studies, Reuben actively pursued professional experience through internships at a technology company and a financial services firm. These roles ignited his interest in the commercialisation of technology and innovation, a passion he brings to his new career.
At HLK, Reuben joined the Technology team in London and is training at the HLK academy, developing his knowledge of key patent concepts.
