Olivia Crawford

Olivia has particularly vast experience in the telecoms field, having drafted and prosecuted hundreds of applications, many of which have gone on to become Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). Her work with SEPs goes beyond drafting and prosecution into the analysis of whether or not patents can be considered standard essential to a number of different international standards.

Whilst working at HLK, Olivia has developed a particular passion for drafting and prosecuting machine learning related inventions. She regularly impresses inventors and patent engineers alike with the depth of her understanding of the technology involved – and is often praised for her ability to turn complex inventions disclosures into readable and logical applications.

Olivia also has a deep understanding of the needs of in-house patent departments, gained over multiple secondments to a fabless semiconductor company specialising in signal processing. This, combined with her extensive technical knowledge spanning a wide range of disciplines, enables Olivia to provide a seamless and enjoyable “in-house” experience as outside counsel.
