About Jo

Jo is one of HLKr’s longest-serving colleagues, having joined the firm as a Technical Translator in November 1994 after completing a degree in Modern Languages (French and German) at the University of Oxford. She is also one of HLK’s most experienced patent administrators, having moved to the Tech Team as a patent administrator in May 2001. Jo was awarded the CIPA Certificate in Patent Administration in May 2002.

Although her days of poring over dictionaries and translating German patent specifications into English are long gone, Jo is keen to keep her language skills alive and is still sometimes called on to assist colleagues with last-minute translation tasks.

Jo works with a wide range of clients in the UK and overseas, specialising in guiding them through the complexities of European patent prosecution. She particularly enjoys being trusted to build her own direct relationships with clients, and always works hard to ensure that the service HLK provides is clear, consistent, accurate and helpful.

As Senior Patent Administrator, Jo also assists with the training and mentoring of trainee patent administrators in the Tech Team, which allows her both to share the experience she’s acquired over the years and to keep her knowledge of the patent process up-to-date.
