About James

James joined HLK in July 2023. Prior to joining HLK, James managed the trade mark and design right portfolios at a boutique commercial firm. James has experience in conducting trade mark searches, advising on trade mark filing strategy, prosecuting trade mark applications in the UK and internationally.

James also has experience with contentious trade mark matters before the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices including advising clients on strategy, negotiating and drafting co-existence agreements. He also has experience with advising clients on claims for passing off, trade mark, design right and copyright infringement. In addition to his IP registry and litigation experience, he has experience with drafting terms and conditions, sale of goods and services agreements and IP assignments.
