Our cross-disciplinary Materials team continues to grow with the recent arrival of new associate Harriet Crawford.
Harriet joins HLK with over 8 years in the patent profession. She studied Natural Sciences, with a focus on Materials Science, at the University of Cambridge and was a student research intern at ETH Zürich.
Harriet comments:
“I’m really excited to be joining an established and busy materials team in patents. I particularly like that materials science gets right into “how stuff works” and it’s always exciting to listen to inventors enthusiastically explain their new ideas. In university I gained a broad base of materials science knowledge and ran summer projects in tribology and multiferroics.
On the patents side of things I have taken materials inventions from initial discussions with inventors through to defending patents in EPO oppositions procedures. Particular focus areas have included construction materials and battery technologies; in addition I have worked on applications relating to polymer manufacturing, metallurgy, semiconductors, industrial processing, general chemistry and mechanical inventions.”
Harriet is now the tenth member of our Materials team, made up of patent attorneys with specialist technical expertise across the whole field of materials science, including metals and alloys, minerals, ceramics, semiconductors, biomaterials, polymers and composites.
