HLK is delighted to announce the second new Partner appointment to its Legal team in a month. Louise Perkin (née Handley) has joined the firm, following the appointment of Jamie Rowlands in June. Louise will be based in Leeds and brings with her a team of experts.
Acting for a diverse range of clients from start-ups and SMEs to PLCs and universities, Louise specialises in non-contentious IP work. For over 25 years Louise has assisted clients in commercial/IP transactions.
Louise is a leading figure in the Leeds marketplace and has been for many years. She gained significant experience at several leading national and international firms. She regularly drafts and negotiates complex IP, IT and commercial agreements including licensing and assigning IP, collaboration agreements, R&D agreements, SaaS agreements, agile agreements, terms and conditions, supply, distribution and agency agreements.
Louise is continually recognised as a leader in her field for IP and IT by The Legal 500 and Chambers UK. She is characterised as “an experienced and very capable lawyer on commercial transactions”.
The addition of Louise to the growing Legal team further expands HLK’s legal services credentials and affirms the passion HLK possesses for understanding a client’s business and providing commercially sound and cost-effective advice focused on result.
Louise comments:
“When the opportunity to be part of Leeds’ leading IP firm at HLK came my way, I jumped at the chance. The calibre of people at HLK, as well as the market leading work that they do, was a decisive factor in my decision to join them.”
Richard Kempner, Partner and Head of the Legal team at HLK, adds:
“I’ve known Louise for more than 25 years, and have always held her in the highest regard as a lawyer, advisor and someone who really cares about her clients’ success – and in many cases she has helped make that happen for them. We are truly delighted that she has chosen to join us to bolster our noncontentious IP services and enhance our client offering accordingly.”
