The Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys’ Autumn Conference 2021: Reputation, resolution and revolution is taking place online on 14-15th October. Haseltine Lake Kempner’s Litigation Partner, Dr Brian Whitehead will be speaking on 15th October (11:25 BST) with a practical session focusing on settlement agreements in IP, exploring formal contract law, providing guidance on boiler plate issues, such as jurisdiction clauses and execution in counterpart. There will also be a section looking at case studies, which show what can go wrong and how to avoid this.
Brian’s focus is on IP law issues in the technology sectors, particularly patent litigation and breach of confidence/trade secret actions. He is also very active in the retail and design sectors, and has acted for a number of the firm’s leading retail and fashion clients on cases involving trade marks, copyright and design rights in the High Court and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. Brian sits as an Appointed Person (trade marks and designs) and a Deputy District Judge, and is authorised to hear cases in the Business and Property Court in Leeds.
